Its cyclical, but I have not tried to graph/measure its repetition before now (when I noticed the emails filling up my 
inbox). 
Body of tidal water..could be, but I wasn't involved in the installation so I can't actually tell where the antennas 
are pointing.

Is "every few hours" regular/cyclical? Does the radio link cross a
tidal body of water?
