Actually, a somewhat reasonable conclusion for a non-native speaker of English, and a concern that *does* have to be addressed by many of the "plethora of TLD" proposals that crop up every once in a while. '.coop' probably has less mnemonic value on a worldwide basis than the Mandarin characters for the capital city of China....
