setg lhost sometimes doesn't work

Has anyone else noticed that sometimes if you do a setg lhost it
doesn't actually set it? I though it was just me but has happened so
often recently that it can't be me mis-typing there does seem to be a
bug of some kind. Setting it with a normal set always works OK in the
same situations.
