HD I was installing nexpose on Backtrack 4 which already had Postgres on it. Is that what you mean by existing postgres instance? Also yes it was in maintenance mode. I'm seeing this on the web console: Database initialization failed: Error starting PostgresSQL com rapid7.os OSEception. could not start the nxpsql daemon now Postgres is already running having been started at boot. Generally this means your copy of NeXpose is either not activated (the license key was used elsewhere or it could not contact the licensing server) or in maintenance mode due to an issue during the install (an existing postgres instance for example). To activate your installation, get a fresh license, login to the web console, go into Administration -> "NeXpose Security Console" -> Licensing and enter your license key, then click Activate. -HD
