Right...but you said it worked the first time (which implies you got a
shell at least once), but then it didn't work for subsequent attempts.  
The first time you got a shell, did you run the 'net start 
sqlserveragent' command in the shell that you were provided?  Perhaps 
I'm misunderstanding...
