Communications and Information Technology Minister Tifatul Sembiring has named 
four countries as sources of hackers who have attacked Indonesian government 
websites, a report said on Monday.

Tifatul was quoted by Indonesian news portal Tempo.co as saying that the 
hackers who have attacked Indonesian government sites were from China, Russia, 
the United States and South Korea.

He said the hackers were seeking state information with the intention of 
selling it later, but did not elaborate on the matter.

The minister said that while hacking is generally disruptive, the bright side 
is that it let the government know where the weaknesses in its websites were.
