Ivan Barker called at the house of wheelchair-bound Jacque Mathley to say 'sorry' for stealing his laptop and cigarettes three months previously.
But after convincing Mr Mathely he had genuinely come to apologise, Barker was invited in by the man he had wronged, only to disappear with his replacement machine.
Barker, 21, had been allowed in to Mr Mathely's home after telling his victim the police had told him to apologise for the previous offence, when he had stolen a computer and cigarettes.
