ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN -- Computer fraud is growing so fast that a new
state police unit created to fight it already faces a six-month
backlog of cases.

The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit will handle any type of
case involving computers and includes members from the FBI and Drug
Enforcement Administration.

"We've got a lot of people from a lot of different agencies working
together, and there's always going to be work out there," said Lt.
Brian Albright, a former detective from the state police Ypsilanti
post who was recently promoted to command the unit.

The unit officially started investigations last week. "I'm not afraid
of ever losing business," Albright said.

Unit staff members are trained to investigate any crimes involving a
computer, including cyberstalking, distribution of child pornography,
drug trafficking, fraud, money laundering and Internet gambling.
