To better serve the needs of those who rely on Attrition for information about web defacements, we are offering a new mailing list. 'Defaced-commentary' will be a new mail list for sending out special notifications of incidents we believe merit attention. Some of the events or trends we plan on posting about are high-profile defacements, such as major government or corporate sites. We will point out noteworthy changes in attack trends, such as this summer's extreme shift in the percentages of Linux defacements following the publication of the wu-ftpd vulnerability. We will comment on large trends in subject matter, as in the case of the recent Israeli/Palestinian 'war' going on. We will indicate unique or otherwise important issues in defacements. We will send out current statistical information we have gathered on defaced sites. It is understood that many people both in the computer industry and in other fields rely on information from Attrition's site, and we believe it's important to share as much insight into that information as possible. Defaced-commentary will be our way to offer up-to-date advisories and newsworthy reports on defacement trends. It will be a low-traffic list, as we will only post to it in the event of a significant incident we feel should be shared. To subscribe to defaced-commentary, simply send an email to majordomo () attrition org with "subscribe defaced-commentary" in the BODY of the mail. ISN is hosted by SecurityFocus.com --- To unsubscribe email LISTSERV () SecurityFocus com with a message body of "SIGNOFF ISN".
