Dave-- just heard the '52' figure on BBC.

This looks awfully like a software problem
killing our fellow citizens, roughy one per month.

Confusion reigns--

"Toyota has attributed the problem to sticking gas pedals and accelerators that can become jammed in floor mats, and
has cited no evidence of an electrical problem."
from an article saying NASA will help, at
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=125337438

But
"complaints about sudden acceleration in Toyota vehicles began to rise in 2002, The Times reported last year. That's
when the company introduced an electronic throttle that links the driver to the engine through sensors,
microprocessors and wires."
from
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-toyota30-2010mar30,0,7651514.story

Isn't it fairly obvious that the real issue is lost in
software interfaces along the car's digital bus?

Top software guys-- black hats and white--
are needed for this. It's not just a Japanese problem,
 it's an American problem now.

Tear down some Toyotas! Run simulations on the
 digtal bus!

Best,T
