Unfortunately, mesh networks constructed in this way do not scale well due to problems with spectrum usage. This is even more so with systems based on 802.11b, which has too few non-overlapping channels to prevent interference
There is abundant licensed and license-free spectrum in 50-90 GHz to construct a mesh network to serve low power WLAN user clusters. Why on earth is no one considering this, particularly in a streetlamp-mounted system which would assure point- to-point visibility
