Subject: Astroglide improper indexing reveals 250k+ customer records

For IP, if you wish:

Apparently, the webmasters at the company that makes Astroglide had
improperly configured their webserver. As a result, a few hundred
thousand customer records were exposed to Google and searchable for
some non-trivial period of time. Even after the original pages were
taken down, they were still viewable in Google's cache.

I think this illustrates how easy it is for a small, relatively simple
mistake to escalate into something pretty invasive in the current web
environment.

I would not be surprised if those pages were initially located by
Google because someone browsed them with the Google Toolbar, which can
cause web pages to be inserted into the Google index even if they're
not linked from anywhere publicly.
