Board President Nancy H. Dacek (R) and director Margaret Jurgensen appeared before the council's Management and Fiscal Policy committee. Both administrators assured the council that the errors should not affect the general election in November. In the meantime, the board has hired a Houston-based firm to conduct an independent review of the election management process. Plans are also under way to retrain chief judges on the electronic poll book equipment and to establish an emergency management plan that includes better communications between the county's 238 precincts and the elections board, the elections officials told the committee. Monday's meeting lasted about 30 minutes and did not include comments from council members because Dacek and Jurgensen had to return to the elections board headquarters to begin counting provisional ballots at 10 a.m. Members of the council, as wells as County Executive Douglas M. Duncan (D), have called for Dacek and Jurgensen to resign. Thus far, Dacek has refused, and last week the board released a statement supporting Jurgensen. The MFP committee will meet with the board again on Oct. 5. ------------------------------------- You are subscribed as lists-ip () insecure org To manage your subscription, go to http://v2.listbox.com/member/?listname=ip Archives at: http://www.interesting-people.org/archives/interesting-people/
