For starters, they use Google's name just to grab eyes; secondly, the risks they outline can be summed up fairly simply: "manage your public network connections properly." Google won't find unmanaged ports if there aren't any, nor will it find inappropriate error messages if there aren't any. Hackers won't find them either.
This article should more appropriately be titled, "the dangers of unmanaged internet connections"
Of course, that title would attract almost no readers! :-) Regards, Marc Aniballi This message was sent using a portable messaging device. -----Original Message----- From: David Farber <dave () farber net> Date: Sat, 20 May 2006 09:48:58 To:ip () v2 listbox com Subject: [IP] article on the dangers of Google This article goes into detail explaining how dangerous Google can be. At the very least please read the sections on Google Hacking and Google Desktop. http://csoonline.com/read/050106/google_security.html ------------------------------------- You are subscribed as marcaniballi () hotmail com To manage your subscription, go to http://v2.listbox.com/member/?listname=ipArchives at: http://www.interesting-people.org/archives/interesting- people/
