For terrorists to be successful, they need to inspire terror -- not necessarily accomplish destructive acts. If I consider how many billions of dollars, euros, pounds, etc., have been expended in the name of security and the lives disrupted, holidays spoiled, profits lost, etc., I am forced to consider that terrorism is extremely effective. FDR was right in his first Inaugural Address: "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." Contemporary terrorists profit from instilling that fear. Peter H.
