The appeal is styled COMPTEL v. FCC, and the Petitioners are:
American Library Association, Association of Research Libraries, COMPTEL, Center for Democracy and Technology, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Electronic Privacy Information Center, Pulver.com, Sun Microsystems,The brief, essentially pro forma Petition for Review is available at http://www.cdt.org/digi_tele/20051025caleapetition.pdf .
Thanks to all of the Petitioners and everyone else who has contributed to the development of this legal challenge. We will keep you posted on developments.
As you may also have heard, yesterday the American Council on Education filed a separate petition for review in the DC Circuit of the CALEA order. ACE is an organization of university presidents and executives. The two separate petitioners will certainly -- to an as yet unknown degree -- be consolidated into a single proceeding.
