Dear Pittsburgh-area friends of NCSE,

NCSE's executive director Eugenie C. Scott will be speaking at the  
Carnegie Museum of Natural History at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October  
22, on "Why Scientists Reject Intelligent Design 'Theory':  The Dover  
Case and Its Context."  The museum describes the talk as follows:


> Dr. Eugenie C. Scott, Executive Director of the National Center for  
> Science Education, Inc., is the nation's leading advocate for the  
> opposition to the teaching of "scientific" creationism and other  
> religiously-based views in science classes. She will discuss the  
> current status of the creationism/evolution controversy, with  
> special emphasis on the Kitzmiller vs Dover trial now taking place  
> in Federal District Court in Pennsylvania. Issues raised in this  
> trial are virtually identical to those raised in earlier cases  
> considering the legality of "creation science."

The event is open to the public; museum admission is not required.
