Subject: NCSE's Scott in Pittsburgh 10/22

Dear Pittsburgh-area friends of NCSE,

NCSE's executive director Eugenie C. Scott will be speaking at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, on "Why Scientists Reject Intelligent Design 'Theory': The Dover Case and Its Context." The museum describes the talk as follows:

Dr. Eugenie C. Scott, Executive Director of the National Center for Science Education, Inc., is the nation's leading advocate for the opposition to the teaching of "scientific" creationism and other religiously-based views in science classes. She will discuss the current status of the creationism/evolution controversy, with special emphasis on the Kitzmiller vs Dover trial now taking place in Federal District Court in Pennsylvania. Issues raised in this trial are virtually identical to those raised in earlier cases considering the legality of "creation science."

The event is open to the public; museum admission is not required. For further information, visit the CMNH website:
