Here's what I mean. This is one sample of thousands available; this particular one just happened to make it onto my radar because it showed up in a forum I track relatively closely. The sender's address may be forged (I haven't checked) but the spammer appears to give a real working address in the body of the message. My point is that having the feds compile lists and make them available free-of-charge would certainly detract from part of this spambag's business, but would of course be a boon to all of his/her customers. It would also be a boon to virus/worm authors: consider the M$ worm de jour and how fast it might spread itself if, wired into it, was the URL for such a huge list of addreses. ---Rsk > From: Gregory Schurman <birney () earthlink net> > To: Support <support () -hidden- com> > Subject: Bulk email lists & distribution > Date: Sat, 24 Jan 2004 11:03:23 -0500 > Message-ID: <100001c3e293$ad4fee12$4ae230e4 () earthlink net> > MIME-Version: 1.0 > Content-Type: text/plain > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > X-Priority: 3 (Normal) > X-MSMail-Priority: Normal > X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook, Build 10.0.4024 > Importance: Normal > X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2800.1081 > X-AntiVirus: Checked by Dr.Web (http://www.drweb.net) > X-Spam-Filtered: c85efb97b6a87ef9ee84e2af10ae6572 > X-Razor-Id: 1 e1: hMlfUcCHMMVgUFYtoncEbuMcaxMA> X-Mail-Format-Warning: Bad RFC2822 header formatting in 1.0 e2: 2yh94hIguOGSamikrNf3UR4eQ0gA > X-Mail-Format-Warning: Bad RFC2822 header formatting in 1.0 e3: 2EgzxdUWfUkbVERgoNJTnOqsi3iknGNvAcGRRYjCUQsA > X-Mail-Format-Warning: Bad RFC2822 header formatting in 1.0 e4: u7UVJ3DfrB-HiiKKlokkipWelWUA, ep4: 7542-10
