From: "Robert J. Berger" <rberger () ibd com> Buzzzzt: Wrong! Verisign is not doing the same thing that Microsoft and others do with their browsers at the very edge of the network. The browser is under the preferential control of the end user and does not effect the entire Internet. The edge of the Internet is where innovation thrives. The Core should be kept "stupid" and support transparent end-to-end connectivity based on the IETF standards process. Verisign hijacked a core function of the Internet and twisted it to their own use with no mechanism for end users to opt out or change the behavior to their own liking. Also when the the browser at the edge does it, it doesn't break things for all other software that is not a browser. Sitefinder does break the established behavior of core protocols of the Internet. An excellent response to this kind of FUD is at:http://news.com.com/2009-1081-5080762.html by Mark Newton
