Announced at the inaugural Development Gateway Forum in May 2003 in Bonn, Germany, the Prizewill be awarded for the first time at the 2004 Forum next Spring. A single winner
will receive 100,000 Euros based on the decision of an independent panel of judges. Key criteria for nominations of individuals or organizations include scale, scope and replicability of the ICT initiative. Any ICT initiative iseligible that has benefited people in a developing country or region. Nominations

Call for Nominations: The Petersberg Prize for ICT and Development September 30, 2003 -- The Development Gateway Foundation invites you to submit nominations for the Petersberg Prize. The Prize will recognize the most exemplary contribution in the field of information and communication Technologies (ICT) for development during the last ten years. The awardee will receive a â¬100,000 Prize. Nominations are due by February 11, 2004. Modern ICT is an increasingly important factor for development. The field is young, and the promise of using ICT has yet to be realized in most of the world. With the Petersberg Prize, the Development Gateway is therefore seeking to help advance the understanding of ICTâs role in development and recognize leaderders in the field. The Prize is focused on impact on social and economic development. It will be awarded for a significant and successful contribution in the use of ICT for development ââ¬â one that will have benefited a large number of people.
