David;

I am not American - however I subscribe to the "American Ideal." I
believe that the world in general is not against the American Ideal, but
against the current leadership. The problems facing America internally
are significant and growing, yet none of them changes the value of the
American Ideal.

I get the sense from this blog that everyone here is Pro-American Ideal.
Moreover, they want to ensure that those who are harming the ideal are
witnessed. These harms might be a destructive telecom bill in the house,
or an unpopular military action - but these are not attacks against
"America" they are attacks against the components of America that are
increasing the divergence between the current American system and the
American Ideal.

Without you, David, and others like you, the American Ideal would be
only a memory in the hearts of the men who signed the declaration of
independence and the constitution. Freedom of speech is the only way to
keep government in check; unfortunately, it also permits views that are
distasteful to some. Liberty and Freedom are subscription based - if you
stop paying, they go away.

You are engaging in the kind of informed dialog and debate that forms the
core of the First Amendment - and if there is anything that so defines
what is American, it is (was?) our committment to protect the right to
have such debate.
