DoCoMo to begin trial wireless LAN service

TOKYO ‹ NTT DoCoMo Inc said Friday it will begin a trial wireless local area
network (LAN) service in Tokyo and Chiba prefectures from April 15 to June
30. NTT Communications Corp, NTT East Corp and Japan Telecom Co are also
considering entering the wireless LAN business, which allows for high-speed
Internet access.

NTT DoCoMo said it will conduct trial service at eight locations, such as
the Hotel Okura in Tokyo and the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba,
offering data transmission speeds of up to 11 megabits a second. (Kyodo
