It's verbatim from DOJ.-Declan On backgroundIn response to a question regarding whether the Attorney General has had any contact with any Enron officials: The Attorney General recalls one event where he spoke to a group of CEOs and was invited on behalf of the group by Ken Lay who was serving as the group's Vice-Chairman. The event was The Business Council's annual meeting on February 22, 2001. The Attorney General was introduced at the event by Ken Lay and the Attorney General's speech addressed the importance of lowering crime and how that helps make for a better business climate. It is our understanding that other Cabinet members and perhaps other Washington officials spoke before the group.
