Thanks, MW You are receiving this email because you may be in New York or may know someone in New York. According to the news media, there is an urgent need for blood donations in New York City. This may be made more complicated because the trauma centers (St. Vincents and the other downtown hospital) are so busy that they can not process the potential blood donors that are waiting in line outside. People in the upper west side may go to 150 Amsterdam at W 66th Street. Also, apparently Fire Stations throughout the city are processing blood donations. People outside the city are also encouraged to donate blood. Probably the reserves in other areas are being sent to NY and Washington, so there will be shortages in other parts of the country because of this. I am just guessing about this last point, however. Also, this is a reminder that the Red Cross is looking for certified CPR or trained first aid personnel and any such people should call one of the following three numbers: 212-875-2067, 212-875-2068, 212-875-2069.
