all security bulletins Thursday, revealing that anyone using Internet 
Explorer 5.01 or 5.5 on the Windows OS was subject to a vulnerability that 
could enable an attacker to

program of his or her choice on the machine of another user. "Such a 
program," Microsoft said, "would be capable of taking any action that the 
user himself could take on his machine, including adding, changing or 
deleting data, communicating with web sites, or reformatting the hard drive."
