His waiter returned to the table and told him his Citibank platinum credit card had been denied. Embarrassed, he paid the bill with cash, called Citibank, and soon discovered that his credit card had been unilaterally blocked because his name matched that of an alleged terrorist listed on an executive order issued by President Bush. The cardholder, whose name is about as commonplace in his native Egypt as John Smith is here, was astounded that Citibank would mistake him for a terrorist.
