From: Jim Warren <jwarren () well com> Subject: credit-card cartel can release your info to ANYone, unless you act! This just in -- spotted by a friend. Caveat Creditee! --jimHi Guys............. Just wanted to let you know that the four major credit bureaus in the U.S. are allowed (it started July 1, 2001) to release your credit info, mailing addresses. phone numbers, etc. to anyone that requests it............ Ref. the Gramm-Leach-Bliley bill in Washington, DC ........... If you would like to 'opt out' of this release of info, you can call 1-888-567-8688. It only takes a minute or so to do and you can take care of anyone else in the household while making only one call (you'll need to know their social security number)........... Be sure to listen closely, the first opt out is only for two years, make sure you wait until they prompt you to press '3' on your keypad to opt out for good............. Tell the world........... Good luck. Message #2: Additional info: After you call, one to two weeks after, you will get a letter from the OPT--OUT Dept., in Seattle. It contains a form that "you requested" -- it must be filled and mailed back. In an envelope with stamp, both provided by you. What a miserable scam, brought to you by our "gub'ment."
