You'll hear candidates endorse an expansion of the number of foreign high-tech workers here on temporary visas, for example. You'll also hear the word ``privacy'' come up now and then, though typically without much context or serious proposals. But most candidates are running campaigns that minimize or ignore outright the vital technology-related questions before us -- matters that are at the core of the future economy, of society itself.
