IBM has <http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1003-200-3349964.html?tag=st.ne.1002.tgif.ni>suspended development of a ThinkPad notebook enabled with Transmeta's Crusoe processor, explaining that such a device doesn't fit within its current marketing plans. The situation has apparently changed since June, when IBM showcased a Transmeta-powered ThinkPad 240 at PC Expo and suggested it might bring the device to market in the fourth quarter this year. An IBM spokesman commented on the company's decision to curtail development of the notebook, suggesting IBM would "continue to look at Transmeta on an ongoing basis," but that likely did little to offset the anxiety of those anxiously awaiting <http://www.msdwadvice.com/syndicate/research/ipocenter/asp/eqsyn.asp>Transmeta's November 6 IPO.
