Johnson" <sjohnson () cncdsl com> keep in mind the context for these actions IS Silicon Valley, where "Dumpster Diving" is an old, and not uncommon technique for obtaining corporate intelligence. Some large SV firms long ago started instructing (drilling?) employees on the proper disposal of all types of information, and what types of information to keep for what length of time. One company (you can guess) lost a particular lawsuit based on a handwritten notation on one-on-one notes that a very senior executive had saved and stored. Lawyers discovered it on disclosure, and ever since training on what to keep and not keep has been part of that corporation's culture.
