From: "Robert Raisch" <raisch () internautics com> To: "Dave Farber" <farber () cis upenn edu> Computers to pass on tricks of trade - From Yomiuri Shimbun The International Trade and Industry Ministry plans to develop a computer system to record and analyze the techniques of highly skilled workers in action, so that they may be passed on to trainees, ministry sources said Sunday. According to the plan, computers will be used to analyze minute movements of the eyes, limbs and muscles of welders, turners and other skilled workers. The recorded data would then be analyzed and digitally and graphically processed so that young trainee workers could learn the techniques of skilled masters of their chosen trade.
