     to anyone you think would be interested.  All interested parties are 
     welcome to attend and to participate in what we hope will be a good 
     discussion.

     The Department of State is pleased to invite you to a briefing by the 
     US delegation to the recent World Intellectual Property Organization 
     (WIPO) Information Meeting on Intellectual Property in Databases.  
     
     When:      2 to 4pm, Friday, October 10, 1997
     
     Where:     East Auditorium, Department of State
                22nd and C Street NW
                Washington, DC           
                (Use C Street entrance - see below for details on           
                pre-clearance procedure)
     
     Who:       US Delegation to the WIPO Information Meeting, and          
                representatives from industry, science, education,          
                libraries, academia, NGOs, Congress, and government         
                agencies have been invited.  
     
     Agenda:    Welcome and Introduction:   James McGlinchey, State Dept.
     
                Briefing by US delegation:  Mike Keplinger, head of USdel, 
                                            and others
     
                Comments and discussion:    Audience and US delegation
     
      
                       ***IMPORTANT INFORMATION***
     
     Because State Department is a secure facility, we will be happy to  
     arrange to have you pre-cleared into the building.  Please call 
     Roberta Barnes or Brenda Adams at 202-647-0239 no later than Thursday 
     October 9, and give her your name, date of birth, and social security 
     number.  Your name will be on the list for priority clearance into the 
     building.  It's easy, REALLY!  Hope to see you on the 10th.
