IP: ACM97 and the SJMN

Thought you might like to check out the San Jose Mercury News  coverage
from ACM 97  in SJ. They tried something different; they covered the thing
comprehensively but more on the Web than in the print edition, setting up
a portable newsroom at the convention center and posting immediately to
the Web, and only later using excerpts from their Website stuff in the next
day's paper. It was partly an experiment to play with semi-real-time
journalism (including video) -- to figure out how they  can do this sort of
thing better in the future -- but also seemed appropriate to what ACM was
doing there.
