AOL hangs up telemarketing plan


America Online canceled plans Thursday to make available
subscribers' telephone numbers to AOL business partners including
CUC International, according to an online statement to subscribers
reported by Reuters. The news report, however, said the online
service is now considering having its own employees telemarket to
members on behalf of other companies. The message to AOL members
online said "upon further reflection, we today decided to change
our plans" that would have had the company open its membership
records to sales people.
