Date: Wed, 23 Aug 1995 15:33:43 -0700 (PDT) From: Martin Herlihy <mherlihy () leland Stanford EDU> The Stanford University US-Japan Technology Management Center (USJTMC) is proud to announce its immediate public release of a limited-time, experimental Internet World Wide Web site of information from the MICROMACHINE CENTER (MMC), a nonprofit organization established under the auspices of Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). MMC implements research and development under the 25-billion yen "Micromachine Technology" megaproject in the Industrial Science and Technology Frontier program of MITI's Agency of Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) through the New Energy and Technology Development Organization (NEDO). In addition, MMC promotes cooperative research involving industry, government, and academia on micromachine R&D. This new website delivers multimedia information on MMC projects, research results, and viewpoints for the first time over the Internet. It includes complete archives of the MMC's MICROMACHINE JOURNAL through March 1995. The USJTMC has received official permission from MMC to provide this English-language information on a temporary, experimental basis in advance of the public release of MMC's homepage in Japan, which is planned for later this year. Development of this new website is one activity in the Stanford University US-Japan Technology Management Center's programs to increase public awareness and access to Japanese sources of scientific and technical information through the use of new technologies. The USJTMC has received major funding for this project through a grant in the US-Japan Industry and Technology Management Training (JITMT) Program, which is administered by the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research. The USJTMC's Micromachine Center website can be viewed at: http://fuji.stanford.edu For further information on this new site or any of the USJTMC's programs, please contact Carol Mangels Events and Publicity Coordinator US-Japan Technology Management Center Stanford University Department of Electrical Engineering 302 McCullough Stanford, CA 94305-4055 TEL +1-415-725-4811 FAX +1-415-725-9974 carol () fuji stanford edu
