To: efj () twics com From: cameronj () mcc com networks Japan and South Korea have decided to cooperate in building multimedia and other next-generation information networks. Japan's Minister of Posts and Telecommunications is scheduled to visit South Korea to complete a formal agreement. Specifically, the two countries are to cooperate on standards for communications formats, exchange government personnel, and incorporate Korean firms in a Japanese pilot project. With the bilateral agreement, MPT hopes to make progress on the standardization of communications formats in Asia. Later it will work to settle on standards with the U.S. and Europe.
