DOWVISION. Dow Jones will provide its financial news service over the
Internet by mid-year. DowVision will offer full text of the Wall Street
Journal, as well as information from other news services. Users will be
charged a yet-to-be-determined flat fee. (Wall Street Journal 1/27/94 B12)

NEW COMPRESSION TECHNOLOGY. An "upstart" company called Digital Compression
Technology boasts its new technology will enable 10 channels of video to be
sent over existing copper telephone wires. The same technology will
compress 20 to 30 channels into the space of one cable TV channel, three
times what is currently possible with digital compression. The technology
has yet to be demonstrated outside the lab, but the company's chairman
likens it to "sending 16 cars through a tunnel side by side, instead of
single file, and realigning them at the other end." (Wall Street Journal
1/27/94 B8)
