Feel free to edit as you see fit: Vice-President Al Gore will be appearing live today, January 13, in a CompuServe conference presented by U.S. News & World Report. This is the first time a Vice-President (or President, for that matter) has ever met the general public via computer conferencing. Gore will answer questions posted by CIS members. These questions will be live and spontaneous, without the seven second tape delay commonly used in talk radio. The conference will be held in CompuServe's Convention Center, which holds 300 people. The historic nature of this meeting, however, has prompted CIS to expand the bandwidth. An additional 600 spaces have been made available, which may--if all 900 slots are filled--make this the most heavily attended live computer-mediated conference ever held. The conference will also be carried live on television by C-SPAN. Full transcripts of the conference will be posted on the Internet by the White House. U.S. News & World Report will also post the transcript in its forum library on CompuServe (GO UNW-81) The conference begins at 5 p.m. eastern standard time, concluding at approximately 5:45 p.m. Vic Sussman Senior Editor (covering cyberspace issues) U.S. News & World Report. .............................................................................
