News from the Apple Layoff (according to the local paper)

According to an article in today's San Jose Mercury News, the 16% layoff
at Apple, of about 2500 workers, included substantial cuts in the company's
research and development staff, and in particular, in the Advanced Tech-
nology Group.  (I may have the name of the group slightly off.)  The article
noted that entire projects are being shelved, and as an example, it named
an Apple project for a pen version of the Powerbook.
