Job Opportunity: STAFF COUNSEL The Electronic Frontier Foundation is a nonprofit public interest organization specializing in high technology and civil liberties issues. Our mission is to promote First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment values in emerging computer and communication technologies. EFF is seeking a staff counsel to join our public policy team. Candidates should have experience with communications policy issues and a strong commitment to EFF's mission. This is a key role in a rapidly growing organization with national visibility. Job responsibilities: o Legislative Analysis: Formulate and analyze legislative proposals related to EFF's communications policy goals. o Regulatory Representation: Prepare formal comments in support of EFF positions before the Federal Communications Commission, state public utility commissions, and other regulatory bodies. Track status of regulatory proceedings . o Policy Research & Writing: Write memoranda, reports, and publishable articles on legal, technical and economic aspects of communications policy issues. o Public Education: Explain EFF positions through oral presentations and articles for popular/technical press. Qualifications: o Law degree with one to three years of experience, preferably in a public policy or communications law setting o Experience in administrative law and/or regulatory litigation o Experience with computer/communications technology o Commitment to EFF's public policy mission Compensation: $35,000 -- $45,000, depending on experience.
