SF new mailing list announcement: BS 7799 Security

The following mailing list was just added to the SecurityFocus 
collection of moderated mailing lists: BS 7799 Security. To see the

What is BS 7799 Security Mailing List?

The BS 7799 Mailing List is an open information forum for discussing 
topics relevant to this security standard. Topics include discussion 
around the roadmap for certification, controls related by the standard, 
interpretation of controls, compliance requirements and maintenance of 
certification. Latest enhancement in the standard, tools and templates 
used by implementers, links and downloads related to BS 7799 literature 
 will also feature here. BS 7799 Mailing list will act as a facilitator 
in enabling active exchange of ideas between customers seeking 
certifications, security consultants implementing the standard and 
auditors and accredited agencies charged with responsibility of 
certifying the implementation.

What is appropriate content?

As a general rule, ask your questions concisely and politely. Post 
should be respectful, contain no foul language or personal derogatory 
remarks. When voicing disagreement or dislike for something, again be 
polite and respectful. Substantiate posting of links/references with a 
meaningful explanation.

Post Guidelines:

- The mailing list discussion is meant to be informative and collaborative.
- All postings must be in English.
- Post should be text based (no html)
- Questions and conversation surrounding relevant to the above topics.
- Posts announcing "new" and/or updated commercial products may be 
approved provided they are relevant to the list, restricted to one 
paragraph in length, contain factual information, and free of marketing 
hype.

The following are examples of general questions that could be posted to 
the mailing list:

- Does BS 7799 guarantee security?
- What level of BCP readiness should the organization have to achieve BS
7799 certification?
- How long is the certification valid?
- What is the difference between ISO 17799 and BS 7799?
- Are there automated tools for implementing BS 7799?

What is inappropriate content?

- Rants, flames, ethics or morality discussion, and general inflammatory
conduct.
- Non security standards related posts
- Questions related to general security standards (other than BS 7799)
- Topics of an illegal or disreputable nature
- HTML posts
- Product advertisements

Is the list moderated?
Yes.

Who is the moderator?

Jose Varghese of Paladion is the moderator 
(jose.varghese_at_paladion.net). The list moderator is responsible for 
applying the charter fairly and equally to all received posts. As such 
the moderator maintains full discretion over deciding what appropriate 
content for the list is. Please communicate with moderator regarding any 
complains or disputes for resolution.

Does the moderator verify the information on list?

No, information within list posts are not verified. The moderation 
process is used to apply the charter and keep the list discussion on 
topic. The moderators do not verify, endorse, validate, or recommend any 
solutions, opinions, products posted by members of the list. While the 
moderator makes every effort to remove malware from list traffic, 
moderator cannot be held responsible or liable for any damage caused by 
a post.
