Symantec is dissecting samples and expressing some concern but no write up. It's also been TOO quiet for some time now. There's a write - up here though http://ealaddin.com/home/csrt/valerts.asp BRAD GRIFFIN <b.griffin () CQU EDU AU> on 02/15/2001 08:29:36 PM Please respond to BRAD GRIFFIN <b.griffin () CQU EDU AU> To: INCIDENTS () SECURITYFOCUS COM cc: Subject: Re: Virus(Satanik) Hi This one is one of many that some 'person' has been posting on the alt.comp.virus newsgroup. So far, all of this person's creations have been poor failures. As far as I have seen so far, this one is the same. However, I cannot state categoriuically one way or other because I have not seen the source for this as yet. Cheers, Brad -----Original Message----- From: Hansen, Les (Internal Audit) [mailto:les.hansen () GWL CA] Sent: Friday, 16 February 2001 06:49 To: INCIDENTS () SECURITYFOCUS COM Subject: Re: Virus Has anyone heard of the VBS SATANIK CHILD virus or is this a hoax. I just received a warning about it and am trying to confirm. The ealaddin.com site has it listed but I had never heard of the ealaddin.com site until today. Apparently it is a vbs embedded inside an html formatted email. Thank You Les
