I have successfully changed MAC addresses in Windows by accessing the NIC in device manager. I have also changed it in different Linux distributions using different methods. The best way to find out how is 'man ifconfig'. Since OpenBSD 3.8 ( current version 3.9 ) it has been possible to change the MAC using ifconfig. These all work under VMware. The only problem can be that the MAC issued by VMware will show until the guest OS changes it during the boot process. Another solution is to hack the actual VMware binaries to allow for different MAC address in the VMware settings. There is a patch for an older version of VMware written by Kostya Kortchinsky that allowed this. Search for vmpatch.c My 2 cents Luke Eckley
