What happens if you try to remove 'package kernel-2.4.20-8'??
Caution: No User Servicable Parts Inside. Do Not Try This At Home. Trained Professional Stunt Idiot on Closed Course. Hint - if you remove the kernel, where do you get a vmlinuz to boot from? ;) (Yes, with proper RPM magic and Grub/Lilo magic and a roll-your-own kernel, you can actually make this work - but this is well into the "if you have to ask how, you're not technically skilled enough" zone...)
