Hi, I am pleased to announce the release of Honeyd 0.5. Honeyd is a small daemon that creates virtual hosts on a network. The hosts can be configured to run arbitrary services, and their networking personality can be adapted so that they appear to be running certain operating systems. You may download Honeyd 0.5 from http://www.citi.umich.edu/u/provos/honeyd/ This release contains the following new features: - Improved fingerprint evasion by simulating ICMP stack characteristics to fool xprobe2. - Packet/flow logging for human and machine assisted traffic analysis. - Subsystem virtualization allows real network applications (your favorite web server, etc.) to run under virtual Honeyd IP addresses. Subsystem virtualization also allows for background traffic generation, etc. Suggestions, feedback and comments are welcome. Regards, Niels Provos.
