Randy, I agree that people who fall for these scams need to be educated on internet usage. However, I also think that if companies like Intel, Cisco etc want to maintain a Social Media presence for interacting with their customer, they need to prevent their customer base from such scams, phishing attempts etc. Setting up a SM for your company is easy, but maintaining it is not so. Another example is Cisco Blogs. Even though their blog comments are moderated by "humans", spams comments still go through.
