Speaking of whitelists, does anyone know of a MD5 database of valid Microsoft Windows .exe and .dll files? Smith; funsec Subject: RE: [funsec] Texas Bank Dumps Antivirus for Whitelisting I dislike whitelisting. Certainly practical for data entry clerks and the like, but I suspect it becomes a royal PITA when you get into other types of users. Plus managing software updates, etc. Any other thoughts out there on this technology? I'm getting a bit tired of hearing the old "AV is dead" nonsense. He was tired of regularly updating virus signatures, tired of hackers constantly tweaking malware, and tired of worrying about what users had downloaded onto their PCs. So Rickels dumped the bank's AV software for a whitelisting product and in the process, become one of its first commercial customers. _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
