True story - a few years back, the manager a few levels up had a policy of having a monthly all-hands meeting. So at one meeting, a topic came up and a bit of discussion followed. Towards the tail end, a co-worker named Kevin made an obviously dumb suggestion, and I said "Hey Kev, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that won't work..". And then we move on to the next bullet item on the agenda: "Kevin is going half-time for the next 6 months so he can work on his recent $600K NASA grant on rocket nozzle design". Unknown to me, Kevin has a PhD in aeronautics engineering, and is, in fact, a rocket scientist.... ;)
