Microsoft is hiring a former Miss Australia to encourage young people to
get involved in the computer industry.

Enrolments in IT courses plummetted worldwide following the crash of dot
com bubble in 2001, and in New Zealand are still 30 per cent lower than
they were in 2003, despite a booming local industry.

Microsoft and the Australian IT industry association hope Erin McNaught can
turn this around in Australia by convincing teenagers IT careers were
"chic", media reported.
