From same article:
"The Mayfield case has been an embarrassment for the federal government. Last year, the Justice Department's internal watchdog faulted the FBI for sloppy work in mistakenly linking Mayfield to the Madrid bombings. That report said federal prosecutors and FBI agents had made inaccurate and ambiguous statements to a federal judge to get arrest and criminal search warrants against Mayfield." So which is it, they didn't get a warrant or they did? If they did, did they present probable cause (and I'm not asking if it was accurate and specific - obviously, according to this last paragraph, it wasn't)? If so, how does it not satisfy the requirements of obtaining a warrant, in a way that couldn't have been circumvented prior to the Patriot Act? I'm asking, not commenting. _______________________________________________ privacy mailing list privacy () whitestar linuxbox org http://www.whitestar.linuxbox.org/mailman/listinfo/privacy
